Pastured Pork

We raise IPP’s, or Idaho Pasture Pigs. They are a cross between Duroc, old Berkshire, and Kunekune.

Our pigs have a large, fenced enclosure complete with several trees and a cozy shelter. They are fed a quality complete lean hog feed along with a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, oats, and other healthy grains to ensure they receive all the nutrients they need. Since they are pastured, they also forage on grass and earthworms.

We chose to raise IPP’s because they have a shorter snout and therefore don’t root and dig up the ground as much as other breeds. They’re also very friendly!

The meat from IPP’s is well marbled and more flavorful than commercially raised pork. It also contains more omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, and vitamin D.

Pastured Chicken

We raise Cornish Cross Broilers for meat chickens. They grow quickly and efficiently producing tasty meat.

We get our chickens as day-old chicks. The chicks live in a brooder indoors for the first 3 weeks of their lives because they are too small and delicate to survive outside.

At 3 weeks old they will be moved to their permanent home - a chicken tractor, a moveable chicken shelter. Part of the tractor is covered to provide protection from rain, wind, and sun and part of the tractor is open to let them bask in the sun and get lots of fresh air.

The tractor is moved daily to fresh pasture so they can scratch and forage and eat insects. The other amazing part of this is they improve and fertilize our horse pasture just by doing what they do! Regenerative farming at its best!

In addition to foraging, they are fed a balanced meatbird feed to complete their diet.
